Davis' Seventh Bday

 Davis' SEVENTH birthday was a bit of a bummer.  He spent the week home sick from school.  Luckily, one of his gifts was a Geronimo Stilton book, which kept him occupied for part of the morning.  He was excited about his new bike and was definitely looking forward to feeling better and going for a ride. 

 The following weekend he was finally feeling a little better so we invited a couple of Davis' buddies over to watch the BYU/Idaho game.  Davis is a huge BYU fan and this was all that he wanted to do.  He was still pretty worn out but loved watching the game, even if his buddies were running all over the place while he sat with a raspy voice on the couch.

Look Who Lost her First Tooth!

Kate's first tooth FINALLY came out.  Of course  you can guess who pulled it out....Mom.  :) I am practically a dentist, right Jed?

CA here we come...

Jed and I had so much fun last month when we met our dear friends, the Humphreys, at the National Dental Convention in San Fran.  What memories we made!  Unfortunately all of my pics are still on Jed's phone, so I'll have to post more later.  The kids had a ball with my parents.  

Yes, we must do this again!

The Halloween Season

 Have you ever noticed that holidays now seem to go on and on?  When I was little I think that Christmas was the only holiday that had a "season".  Now it seems like we celebrate Valentine's Day, Easter and of course Halloween for weeks.  Luckily I love a good party, but dang am I tired when it is over.  This year our kiddos took turns being sick during the "Halloween Season".  Davis missed the Church carnival and Kate missed most of trick or treating.  Luckily both cowboys and princesses were present at the school carnival along with Jessie and Woody.  I loved that Jed was able to take the time off to be there and the kids LOVED having him at the school. 

Run Walk 2012

 I still have memories of elementary school "jog-a-thons" with "Let's Get Physical" blaring over the loud speaker.  There is something really fun about this fundraiser.   I love seeing the kids run faster as they hear their name being cheered for "Wooo hooo....go Owen...Davis...Kate..."  The way their speed picks up when they know you are watching.  Man I love kids....And then there is of course our sweet go with the flow Gracie.  Always along for the ride. 

Really?

This is what I woke up to this morning on my floor.  Really?  3 out of 4 had come in during the night and I had no idea.  Man, I must have been TIRED!

Question

Question:  What do you do with the little sprouts that the kids come home with in a Styrofoam cup?  They get so excited about it, "I am growing green beans!", "I'm going to grow enough snap peas for us and our friends!" or in this case, "We are going to have the best corn on the cob!  I might even have enough to sell!"  Uh, ya....we have a grape vine (concord and table grapes), strawberries, 3 blue berry bushes, 3 pear trees, a cherry tree, two apple trees and 5 plum trees.  I do not have time or energy for a garden.  Our sweet neighbor Joe provides us with delicious home grown veggies and we give him fruit.  I am so grateful.  So, back to my question, what am I suppose to do with this little sprout that comes home from church, school, cub scouts, whatever?  I just opt to plant it in the only flower bed I really tend (yes, the one with strawberries, flowers, and a whole bunch of weeds....I never said I tend it meticulously).  Who cares if it is right by the front door, right?  Davis is beaming with pride that his corn stalk has grown and we are all shocked that it actually produced two ears of corn.  Not enough to sell, but he is satisfied.  It makes for a random entrance into our home, but it makes me smile.
